Does the wife's staying in her family's home and her refusal to return without cause, and her abstention from meeting her husband and veiling herself from him, constitute abandonment by the husband?

If a wife requests a divorce without a valid reason, she is sinful, and the fragrance of Paradise is forbidden to her. It is not permissible for her to leave the house without her husband's permission, nor to refuse to fulfill his conjugal rights. By doing so, she is considered rebellious (nashiz), and she is not entitled to maintenance (nafaqah) unless she is pregnant. The husband's effort to reconcile and communicate with her family is a good deed, and his actions are not considered abandonment. He is permitted to discipline her by abandonment after admonishing her and reminding her of the consequences of rebellion.
