By which recitation did the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, recite, and which recitation was the language of Quraish?

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, recited with all ten well-known recitations (qira'at), and their transmission from him has been affirmed by continuous, successive narration (tawatur). The Qur’an was revealed in the language of Quraysh and those who lived near them. Then Allah broadened the matter, revealing it in seven ways (ahruf), and it is permissible to recite with any of these ways. Quraysh did not have a specific recitation; rather, some Qurayshis recited with one recitation, and others with another, depending on what they had learned from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. This is evidenced by the difference in the recitations of Umar and Hisham ibn Hakim, both of whom were from Quraysh, and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said about their recitations, "Thus it was revealed." It is probable that the recitation of Ibn Kathir is closer to the language of Quraysh, as he was in Mecca and learned from its people.
