What is the reason for the multiplicity of the ten متواتر (mutawātir) Qira'at (readings), with their differing narrations (riwayat) and methods (turuq), and did Jibril (Gabriel), peace be upon him, recite them all to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him?

The Holy Quran was revealed in multiple forms, all from Allah. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) received these forms from Jibreel and recited them to his Companions. When Uthman compiled the authoritative Mus'haf (Quranic codex), he wrote it in the language of Quraish and distributed the correct forms of recitation among the copies sent to the various regions. The well-known recitations are narrations and forms related to the manner of performance, attributed to shaykhs from whom people received them, and they are mutawatir (transmitted by a large number of narrators at each stage, making it impossible for them to have fabricated it). The purpose of mentioning these methods, narrations, and recitations is for precision and mastery. The mutawatir recitations are not the seven ahruf (letters/modes), but rather one letter from these ahruf, which is the letter corresponding to the last عرضة (recitation review). Of the other six ahruf, only what the Uthmanic script could accommodate remains. The difference in Arab dialects is the reason for the multiplicity of the seven ahruf, not for the multiplicity of recitations. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) taught the Companions different recitations, and these recitations have been preserved within the Ummah and authenticated by scholars.
