Is the commission of the same sin by a member of the sinner's family considered "as you judge, so you will be judged" or an acceleration of punishment? And should this person be punished, or is what happened divine retribution for the sinner's wrongdoing against himself?

A person is not held accountable for another's sin, for every soul is responsible for its own deeds, and "no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another." Allah is wise in His actions; He guides whom He wills and abandons whom He wills. The ill effects of sin may spread from one person to another due to companionship, or to vex the disobedient. The disobedient may be punished through the corruption of their offspring or the disobedience of their family members. A believer must enjoin good and forbid evil, even if they are disobedient, but they must start with themselves and repent sincerely.
