Will the sinner be punished through his family, such as by one of them falling ill?

Divine justice requires that no one should be held accountable for another's sin, as indicated by Quranic verses such as: (And every soul earns not but on its own account, and no bearer of burdens shall bear the burden of another) and (Every soul, for what it has earned, is pledged) and (For it is what it has earned, and against it is what it has incurred). However, a calamity may be a trial for the afflicted person, such as children and the insane, and a punishment for those who love them and are distressed by their affliction. Thus, the psychological pain that befalls a relative may be a punishment for them.
