What is the ruling on opening a special page for condolences upon the death of a forum member's relative?

It is permissible to announce the death of a forum member or their relatives for condolences and supplication. This is not among the forbidden forms of eulogizing, unless it involves exaggeration. Sheikh Ibn Baz was asked about offering condolences in newspapers and said: "That is not among the forbidden forms of eulogizing, but refraining from it is better because it incurs significant financial cost." Announcing a death, whether before or after burial, has benefits such as supplicating for the deceased, increasing the number of those who pray over them, and offering condolences to their family. Among the proofs for the permissibility of announcing the death of a Muslim is what the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, did when he announced the death of Najashi by saying: "Seek forgiveness for your brother," and his performing the funeral prayer for him in absentia. Scholars have agreed on the desirability of offering condolences before and after burial, and there is no specific time or place for it.
