Is it permissible for a man to marry a woman who surpasses him in religious knowledge?

It is permissible for a man to marry a woman who surpasses him in religious knowledge. In fact, he should be eager to win her over, due to the likelihood that she will possess religiosity, which is the most important criterion for choosing a wife. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "A woman is married for four things: for her wealth, for her lineage, for her beauty, and for her religion. So, win the religious one, and may your hands be soiled." Also, he may benefit from her knowledge and she may encourage him to seek knowledge.
