What is the ruling if the time for the Adhan comes while I am outside the home; do I continue shopping and thus sin, or do I not sin because my father, the muezzin, did not go to make the Adhan, or must I go home, and what should I do if the time for the Adhan comes and my mother wants to shop while my father wants to go home?
If your father is negligent in his work, the sin is on him alone, for Allah Almighty says: "And no soul earns [anything] except upon itself, and no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another." He should be advised kindly that his negligence in work is forbidden and that he is forbidden from the part of his salary proportionate to his negligence.
If your father misses the call to prayer without an excuse, the sin is on him alone, and you are not required to go to your home near the mosque; rather, you may pray wherever you wish.
If the desires of your parents conflict, try to reconcile between them. If you cannot, then prioritize obeying your father if he is going to the mosque for prayer. However, if he is only going home and not to the mosque, then prioritize obeying your mother, as her obedience and dutifulness are given precedence over the father when there is a conflict in matters other than disobedience [to Allah].
