The Indian oud (Qust) is a plant with numerous medicinal benefits. It was mentioned in the Prophetic Hadith that it contains seven cures, including the treatment of adra (tonsillitis/quinsy) and dhat al-janb (pleurisy). Physicians and specialists have mentioned other benefits of Qust, which include treating liver and stomach problems, expelling toxins, killing intestinal worms, and treating some skin diseases. It is of two types: the white, which is called marine (bahri), and the Indian, which is hotter. Both dry phlegm and stop colds.
