The answer

It is not permissible to willingly engage in an interest-based transaction, based on the words of the Almighty: "O you who have believed, fear Allah and give up what remains [due to you] of interest, if you should be believers." However, if you are compelled to do so, all of the usurious interest must be spent on general Muslim welfare, such as giving it to the poor and needy, including orphans, by purchasing food or clothing for them.
