What is the ruling on a father giving his son the choice between trimming his beard or leaving the house, knowing that the son fears falling into disobedience by leaving the house?

Adhering to religion in these times is like grasping a live coal, due to the strangeness of religion and the spread of tribulations. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, promised those who adhere to religion during times of tribulation the greatest rewards. The adherent must possess wisdom and good counsel when engaging with people, especially relatives, because harshness repels while gentleness unites. It is advised to stay at home to protect oneself and fulfill the rights of one's parents, and to endure and be patient with harm in calling to Allah.
