What should I do if I live in an Arab country that prohibits the hijab, knowing that wearing it would expose me to risks in my studies and work?

The hijab is one of the obligatory duties of Islam, mandated by Allah Almighty in the Quran and through the tongue of His Messenger, peace be upon him, as in His Almighty saying: "O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they should be known and not abused." (Quran 33:59) and His saying: "And not expose their adornment except that which [ordinarily] appears thereof." (Quran 24:31).

The hijab has an apparent wisdom, which is to preserve the dignity of women, protect them from harm, and avert temptation from both men and women, as the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: "Two types of the people of Hell I have not seen... and women who are clothed yet naked, inclining [to evil] and inclined [towards it], their heads like the humps of camels, they will not enter Paradise nor smell its fragrance..."

If there is a real danger or actual harm that befalls a woman due to her adherence to the hijab, and she cannot avoid going out, then this situation falls under necessities, which are estimated according to their extent, as Allah Almighty says: "But whoever is forced [by necessity], neither desiring [it] nor transgressing [its limit], there is no sin upon him. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful." (Quran 2:173).
