A girl who has been raped must conceal what happened to her and not tell anyone, not even her husband, and she should use equivocation if her hymen is no longer intact. If the rape occurred due to the woman's negligence, she must repent and exercise caution. If the woman was consenting, it iszina (fornication/adultery), and she must repent. She is not permitted to marry until after istiṣbār (waiting for one menstrual cycle to ensure non-pregnancy).
