Is the recitation of the Qur’an or a remembrance (dhikr) specified by a number for sending blessings upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, interrupted upon hearing his name mentioned, and is the remembrance specified by a number resumed in this case?

A Muslim must invoke blessings upon the Prophet when he is mentioned, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The miser is he before whom I am mentioned, and he does not invoke blessings upon me," and "May the nose of a man be rubbed in the dust, before whom I am mentioned, and he does not invoke blessings upon me." Scholars have differed on the permissibility of invoking blessings upon the Prophet during the recitation of the Quran or during remembrance (dhikr). The Hanafis hold that recitation should not be interrupted for invoking blessings upon him, while some Shafi'is believe that it is required from both the reciter and the listener, whether in prayer or outside of it. There are narrations from the Salaf (early Muslims) that support both views. As for repeating remembrance, it is not required when continuity is interrupted for a legitimate reason, such as essential speech or enjoining good and forbidding evil.
