What is the ruling on taking medication for narcolepsy that keeps the patient awake during the daytime in Ramadan, knowing that not taking it leads to sleeping throughout the entire day?

If it is possible to take the medication before Fajr and after Maghrib without hardship, then praise be to Allah. And if there are alternative injections that do not break the fast, a doctor can be consulted to use them. However, if medication must be taken during the day and delaying it causes exhaustion or severe hardship, then breaking the fast is permissible, with a make-up fast to be performed later. Most scholars are of the opinion that a sick person is not permitted to break the fast unless their illness is severe, such that the illness would worsen or recovery would be delayed because of it, or they would suffer severe hardship, or they fear the onset of illness due to fasting.
