What is the ruling on using the term "birth defect" (ʿayb khalqī) for children born with deformities?

There is no harm in describing a child or anyone else as having a birth defect (عيبًا خلقيًا), as this expression has been used in the discourse of scholars, both ancient and modern, to describe certain defects that invalidate a marriage or defects in sold goods. Examples of this include what is stated in the commentaries of Qalyubi and Umayrah: "Whether the defect was congenital or acquired," and their saying: "If he claimed after the destruction of the usurped item a congenital defect, such as saying: 'It was created blind or lame, and so on.'"
