What is the wisdom behind Ali's sleeping in the Prophet's bed, peace and blessings be upon him, and was that out of fear of being killed?

What Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, did was in compliance with the command of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, and an act of sacrifice for him and protection from the disbelievers. This is one of the most specific and excellent forms of jihad. The Prophet, peace be upon him, had informed him that no harm would befall him, and this was by the decree of Allah the Almighty. Ali slept on the Prophet's bed, peace be upon him, and covered himself with his cloak so that the polytheists would think he was the Prophet. This was a meticulous plan indicated by Jibreel, peace be upon him.
