How should a wife deal with her husband who has become irritable and is instigating problems after his mother's death?

The wife is advised to be patient and enduring, to obey her husband, and to be keen on pleasing him, as this will weigh heavily in her favor on the scales of her good deeds and admit her into Paradise, demonstrating the immense right of the husband. She should also respond to her husband's ill-treatment with kindness towards him, and frequently supplicate and seek forgiveness for his mother in his presence. She must be patient with her husband until this difficult period passes, during which he is disrupting their marital life. The husband must be patient with the loss of his mother and seek reward from Allah, and his grief does not justify his aggression towards his wife or children.
