Retribution (Qisas) requires the achievement of justice and equivalence in the aggression, based on the Almighty's saying: "And if you punish, then punish with the like of that with which you were punished," and His saying: "So whoever has assaulted you, then assault him in the same way that he has assaulted you." For Qisas in injuries, it is stipulated that the execution of the penalty must be without excess; otherwise, exceeding is forbidden. Qisas also requires that the act be intentional and aggressive, and that there be equality and similarity between the parties involved. As for psychological harm, there is no Qisas for it, but it is forbidden to harm believing men and believing women without right, and one must love for his brother what he loves for himself.
