Is the ذكر (remembrance/invocation) of mounting an animal to be recited, or is it the tasbih (saying "Subhanallah") upon dismounting and the takbir (saying "Allahu Akbar") upon ascending when riding an elevator?

Scholars have differed regarding the supplication for riding an elevator. Some, like Ibn Uthaymeen, hold that it does not apply to the elevator, considering it akin to a staircase. Others, like Al-Muqaddim and Al-Zuhaili, believe that it encompasses every means of transport made subservient by Allah from inanimate objects.

As for saying takbir (Allahu Akbar) when ascending and tasbih (Subhan Allah) when descending, it is generally prescribed. It was reported by Jabir ibn Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with them both, who said: "Whenever we ascended, we would say takbir, and whenever we descended, we would say tasbih," narrated by Al-Bukhari. Ibn Hajar mentioned that the appropriateness of takbir upon ascent is to thank Allah for His bounty, and the appropriateness of tasbih upon descent is to seek relief.
