How do I regain my senses after I started neglecting my prayers and became unable to accept tribulation, even though I used to feel a strong connection with Allah and saw the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, in a dream?
The true Muslim adheres to obedience to Allah and performs his obligatory duties, such as prayer and fasting, and is patient in tribulation, without becoming discontent with Allah's decree. One must self-reflect, adhere to prayer, and obey Allah, and ask Allah for steadfastness in faith. Among the supplications of the Prophet, peace be upon him, was: "O Controller of the hearts, make my heart firm in Your religion." The obligatory duties are one's capital, and whoever neglects them has neglected his religion. There is no faith for one who does not pray. Prayer is the best of deeds, and when the Prophet, peace be upon him, was asked about the best deeds, he said: "Prayer performed at its appointed time." Patience is also necessary, for it is to faith as the head is to the body. If good befalls a believer, he is grateful, and if harm befalls him, he is patient, and that is good for him. And ask Allah for well-being, steadfastness, and success in obeying Him.
