The question

Does Allah answer the supplication of a servant who seeks nearness to Him through worship and acts of obedience, and not merely for the sake of a wish, based on verse 90 of Surat Al-Anbiya: "So We responded to him, and We gave him John, and We made his wife fertile. Indeed, they used to hasten to good deeds and supplicate Us with hope and fear, and they were humbly submissive to Us"?

The answer

The prayer of a disbeliever may be answered, let alone that of a disobedient Muslim. However, people of obedience and righteousness are closer to having their prayers answered. One must combine righteousness with abundant acts of obedience, and turn to Allah with supplication and persistence therein, for indeed, whoever does not ask Allah, He becomes angry with him.
