It is not permissible to appoint someone to stone the Jamarat except for a valid excuse, such as illness or old age. Some scholars have included women in this category when there is extreme crowding. Therefore, if there is extreme crowding, there is no harm in a man stoning on behalf of his wife. It is a condition for the proxy that he stones for himself first, then for his principal.
