Is the wife obligated to obey her husband by remaining in Canada for financial reasons, or should she return to Jordan out of fear for her daughters from the schools of the disbelievers?

The wife is not obligated to obey her husband in acquiring the citizenship of a disbelieving country, due to the potential Sharia prohibitions that may result from it; for obedience is only in what is good and permissible. The husband must fear Allah and know that he is responsible for those whom Allah has entrusted to him, in accordance with His, the Almighty’s, saying: "O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones, over which are angels, harsh and severe; they do not disobey Allah in what He commands them but do what they are commanded" (At-Tahrim: 6). And according to the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) saying: "Each of you is a guardian and is responsible for his subjects. And a man is a guardian over his family and is responsible for his subjects." It is not permissible for the wife to leave her husband and return to her country without his consent, if her stay with him is permissible, and there is no certain or highly probable harm in her remaining.
