What was the direction of the Prophet's head—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—in his grave: was it to the east or to the west?

Al-Samhoudi mentioned the scholarly disagreement regarding the description of the Prophet’s grave and those of his two companions. He also reported a narration from Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, stating that the head of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was towards the West. Although the chain of transmission for this narration is weak, it was mentioned because it indicates the position of the noble head.
