Is a divorced wife considered to have been irrevocably divorced (bainunah kubra), or is she still under the marital bond, according to the madhhab of Imam Abu Hanifa al-Nu'man, given a series of marriages and divorces that began with a contract during her 'iddah, followed by a new contract after being informed of the 'iddah, interspersed with successive divorces and revocations, leading to a dispute between the spouses regarding the validity of the marital relationship and the number of divorces that have occurred?

If a woman marries before her waiting period (iddah) ends, her marriage is invalid without dispute, and they must be separated, based on the words of Allah Almighty: "And do not determine to consummate the marriage contract until the prescribed period reaches its end." (Quran 2:235) A divorce that occurs in an invalid marriage is not valid and does not count towards the number of divorces. If your husband divorced you validly twice, he may take you back during the iddah. However, if the iddah ends before he takes you back, you become irrevocably separated from him, and he cannot take you back except with a new marriage contract.
