How can one respond to the Sufis who accuse me of extremism and not loving the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and who hate me for rejecting their exaggerations in praising the Prophet, which amount to shirk and bid'ah?

The innovators can be refuted by citing evidence from the Quran and Sunnah regarding the obligation to follow the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and that the sign of loving him is to follow his Sunnah and refrain from what he forbade, and by clarifying the prohibition of innovation in religion, and that every innovation is a misguidance. If they accuse you of being rigid, mention to them the evidence for the permissibility of rigidity in such matters if it is legitimate and not of the blameworthy kind of rigidity. The hatred of innovators towards the Ahl al-Sunnah is ancient, and the one who enjoins good and forbids evil will find those who hate and fight him. Hence, patience was commanded after enjoining good: "O my son, establish prayer, enjoin what is right, forbid what is wrong, and be patient over what befalls you. Indeed, that is of the matters [requiring] determination." (Quran 31:17). And whoever follows the path of the prophets in da'wah (calling to Islam) will find those who oppose and hate him, as Allah Almighty said: "Nothing is said to you except what was already said to the messengers before you. Indeed, your Lord is a possessor of forgiveness and a possessor of painful punishment." (Quran 41:43).
