Is the correct interpretation of the noble verse: "He has released [the two] seas, meeting [side by side]; between them is a barrier [so] neither of them transgresses" that freshwater seas are formed from saltwater ones, and that they are separated by a barrier? And do "the towering ships" in the verse: "And to Him belong the towering ships in the sea like mountains" mean waves and not vessels?

Researchers are advised to learn the interpretation of the Quran from scholars of tafsir (exegesis). Rivers are not necessarily formed from seas, as evidenced by the Tigris, Euphrates, and Senegal rivers. As for "al-jawari," scholars interpret it as ships, and this is supported by Allah’s saying: "Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried you in the sailing ship (al-jariya)" and "Do you not see that the ships (al-fulk) sail through the sea?" and Allah’s saying: "And among His signs are the ships (al-jawari) in the sea, like mountains. If He wills, He stills the wind, and they remain motionless on its surface. Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful. Or He could destroy them for what they earned," where "destroy them" means the annihilation of the ship's occupants due to their sins.
