How do you interpret the verse: (And to Him belong the Jawar that sail upon the sea like mountains/signs) as meaning that the Jawar are ships and not waves?

"Al-Jawari" refers to ships. This interpretation is supported by the Almighty's verses: "Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried you in the flowing [ark]" and "Do you not see that the ships sail through the sea?" This interpretation has been narrated from early scholars, such as Mujahid. Furthermore, the Almighty states: "And among His signs are the ships in the sea, like mountains. If He wills, He stills the wind, and they remain motionless on its surface. Indeed, in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful. Or He could destroy them for what they earned." This indicates that they are ships which, if the wind ceases, remain motionless. And His saying, "Or He could destroy them for what they earned," means the destruction of ships due to the sins of their people, as mentioned by Al-Tabari, Al-Qurtubi, and Ibn Kathir.
