Is it permissible for scholars to deduce certain unseen matters from the two Revelations (Qur'an and Sunnah) through divination or astrology, along with the occurrence of changes such as illness, marriage, birth, or death, and is this definitively established?
The knowledge of the Unseen (al-Ghayb) is exclusively Allah’s. It is obligatory to believe in what clear texts have indicated concerning it. Some people have tried to deduce the age of the world from certain texts and Isra'iliyat (narrations from Jewish sources), but they have not succeeded. Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar pointed out that some attempted to interpret the hadith to mean that the ratio between the two fingers is like the ratio of what remains of the world to what has passed, and that its total age is 7000 years, relying on unsound reports. The incorrectness of this has become apparent as this amount has been exceeded. Scholars have denounced attempts to deduce matters of the Unseen by forced interpretation. What is obligatory is to submit to the texts and believe in the Unseen matters they mention, and to leave the knowledge of what has not been revealed to Allah, for Allah alone knows the Unseen.
