How is inheritance divided between a full sister and twelve full nephews?

The full sister receives one-half as a prescribed share (fard), based on the Almighty's saying: "If a man dies leaving no child but has a sister, she will have half of what he leaves." The remainder goes to the sons of his full brother by agnatic succession (ta'seeb), divided equally among them, based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Give the prescribed shares to those entitled to them, and what remains is for the closest male agnate." The estate is divided into twenty-four shares: the full sister receives twelve shares, and each son of the full brother receives one share.

We emphasize that matters of inheritance are serious and complex, and it is not sufficient to rely solely on a fatwa. Rather, it must be referred to the Sharia courts for review and investigation, as there may be heirs who are not discovered except after thorough research, or wills, debts, or other rights that take precedence over the heirs' rights.
