What is the ruling on a mother believing in superstitions, such as: feeling an itch in the right hand means receiving money, or a twitching eye means meeting someone, or one shoe falling on top of another means traveling?

What is believed by the common people regarding the twitching of an eyelid or similar occurrences are mere delusions and conjectures that have no basis in Islamic law or common practice. Such beliefs may even fall under the category of ṭiyarah (superstitious omens), which is forbidden. These beliefs vary from one country to another. For someone to associate it with meeting a person or with the occurrence of good or evil does not, in itself, undermine their ʿaqīdah (creed), unless they believe that the twitching of an eye or the itching of a hand is a cause for the presence of good or evil. This would then be an act of shirk (polytheism), as it involves believing something to be a cause when it is not a cause.
