Do the aforementioned pronouncements of divorce—whether explicit, implicit, uttered in anger, or due to obsessive thoughts—count as actual divorces? Is the mentioned reconciliation valid or not? Is living with the wife permissible under these circumstances? And does divorce occur if the husband performs surgery on his wife after previously telling her, "After I perform your eye surgery in three months, we will separate"?

As long as you wrote a letter divorcing your wife, intending thereby to divorce her, then the divorce has occurred. Anything else, such as intrusive thoughts (waswasa), does not result in divorce. The reconciliation (raj'ah) is valid, and your wife is under your marital bond. If you perform the surgery for your wife that you promised her, no divorce occurs because of it, and you are not obligated by this promise. Keep your wife, turn away from intrusive thoughts, consult a psychiatrist, and seek help from Allah.
