Homosexuality (liwāṭ) and lesbianism (siḥāq) are forbidden by consensus (ijmāʿ). A Muslim must shun those who commit these abominations, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Allah has cursed whoever does the deed of the people of Lut." He should not associate with anyone but the pious believer, and should not join them in word or deed, nor remain silent about condemning them, unless his intention is to advise them. If a Muslim is compelled to interact with them to fulfill a need, he should limit it to the extent of necessity, while continuously condemning it in his heart when unable to condemn it with his hand or tongue.
