What is the advice regarding reconciling spouses, or divorce if reconciliation is impossible?
As long as the wife describes her husband as one of the best young men in character and knowledge, the advice for her is to be patient and not rush to seek divorce, as circumstances may change for the better. She should investigate the reasons for the problem and try to remedy it by gradually alerting him to what he is doing, as he may not be aware of his mistake. She should also bear with some traits she dislikes in him, in exchange for the abundant good in him, for no one is perfect. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "No believing man should hate a believing woman; if he dislikes one of her characteristics, he will be pleased with another." This hadith applies to spouses and companions. Scholars have stated that balancing good deeds with bad deeds is justice, and a person should look at the positive aspects.
Furthermore, Allah Almighty said: "And perhaps you dislike a thing and it is good for you," and "And live with them in kindness. For if you dislike them - perhaps you dislike a thing and Allah makes therein much good." So, good may come from what is thought to be evil.
She should be patient and supplicate to Allah Almighty to reconcile them, and she should seek refuge with Allah from the accursed Satan, as what she finds might just be a whisper from him, for Satan is keen on causing separation between spouses.
