The Sharia has prohibited a Muslim from reviling his brother, and some scholars have considered it among the major sins. This prohibition is further emphasized between spouses due to the sanctity of the strong covenant between them and the good companionship enjoined by the Sharia. One spouse describing the other with abusive language contradicts this. The angry person is accountable and responsible for his words unless he loses consciousness, and he should control himself when angry because it is one of the keys to evil, or he should go away until he calms down.
