Does not the saying that the Messenger was bewitched contradict Allah Almighty's saying: "And Allah will protect you from the people"? And how can magic affect one who receives and conveys revelation, when the disbelievers said: "You are following none other than a bewitched man"?

It is authentically reported in the sound Hadith that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was afflicted by magic in Medina by Labid ibn al-A'sam. This magic affected him to the extent that he imagined having done certain things with his family when he had not. However, by the grace of Allah Almighty, his intellect, awareness, and discernment remained with him. Revelation came to him, informing him of what had occurred, so the magic was extracted and destroyed, and its effect vanished from him. The two protective surahs (Al-Mu'awwidhatayn) were revealed to him. This incident did not result in any harm to the message. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was afflicted by various types of tribulation, such as his injury on the Day of Uhud, but Allah protected him from being prevented from delivering the message.
