The answer

It is confirmed that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was afflicted by magic, as reported by Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, that he was bewitched to the extent that he would imagine doing something when he had not done it. Then, two angels informed him that the magic was cast by Labid ibn al-A'sam from the well of Dharwan. Ibn al-Qayyim affirmed that this was not a defect, but rather an illness, like other illnesses that affect prophets, just as they affect others. It does not undermine his prophethood or his truthfulness because these are worldly matters that do not pertain to the veracity of his prophethood. When he, peace and blessings be upon him, learned of the magic, he supplicated to Allah, who guided him to its location. He then extracted it and nullified it, and his affliction departed. He did not punish the one who bewitched him, so as not to incite evil among the people.
