The answer

The aforementioned Hadith is authentic, and beneficial knowledge is that which makes one acquainted with Allah and His Law. Allah and His Messenger have urged the pursuit of knowledge. Scholars have divided knowledge into Fard Ayn (an individual obligation) and Fard Kifayah (a communal obligation). Fard Kifayah includes professional crafts and beneficial worldly sciences. If some individuals undertake them, the sin is lifted from the rest of the community. These fall under the Prophet's (PBUH) saying: "or knowledge from which benefit is derived." Carpentry is one of the important crafts that Muslims should learn and teach. However, it has not been reported by the commentators of Hadith that teaching it is considered an ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah).
