Is it permissible to drink alcohol and smoke in Paradise if one abstains from intoxicants in this world?

The blessings of Paradise differ fundamentally from the blessings of this world. There is nothing in Paradise that resembles what is in this world except in name. Whatever resemblance there may be, it is in appearance, not in essence. Allah Almighty says: (And give good tidings to those who believe and do righteous deeds that they will have gardens beneath which rivers flow. Whenever they are provided with a provision of fruit therefrom, they will say, "This is what we were provided with before," and they will be given in it the like [of it]. And they will have therein purified spouses, and they will abide therein eternally.) [Al-Baqarah: 25].

Thus, the wine that Allah has prepared in Paradise differs from the wine of this world, which Allah has forbidden, as it is the mother of all evils and destructive. As for the wine of Paradise, its description is mentioned in the Holy Qur'an as: (rivers of wine, a delight to those who drink) [Muhammad: 15]. It does not cause headaches, pain, or loss of senses. Whoever drinks wine in this world and dies while addicted to it and without repentance, will be deprived of it in the Hereafter, even if he is among the people of Paradise.

This concept applies to "smoke." It is not among what was promised to Muslims in Paradise, but it is not improbable that Allah Almighty may grant it to whoever desires it there. However, it will not be harmful or evil as is the case with the smoke of this world, because everything that a believer desires in Paradise can be realized. For in Paradise there is what the souls desire, and the believer will not need the worldly pleasures that Allah has forbidden there. But if he desires them, Allah Almighty will honor him with the best and most delicious of them.
