What are the permissible types of analogy (qiyas) regarding Allah Almighty?

Linguistically, qiyas (analogical deduction) means estimation and equality. Technically, it is defined as: "A branch being carried to an origin in ruling, due to a commonality between them." Qiyas is divided according to several considerations: 1. Based on its strength and weakness: It is divided into qiyas jali (obvious analogy), in which the absence of a differentiator or its illah (effective cause) is definitively established (either explicitly stated or agreed upon by consensus, and agreed upon by scholars), and qiyas khafi (subtle analogy), in which the absence of a differentiator or its illah is not definitively established (or not explicitly stated/agreed upon by consensus, though its designation as qiyas is agreed upon). 2. Based on its illah: It is divided into qiyas al-illah (analogy of the effective cause), where the illah is explicitly stated; qiyas al-dalalah (analogy of indication), where a concomitant of the illah, such as its effect or ruling, is mentioned; and qiyas fi ma'na al-asl (analogy in the meaning of the origin), which involves negating a differentiator and does not require a commonality, and is also called qiyas jali or mafhum al-muwafaqah (concept of agreement). 3. Based on the establishment or negation of the illah in the branch: It is divided into qiyas al-tard (analogy of entailment), which establishes a ruling due to the establishment of the illah; and qiyas al-aks (analogy of reversal), which negates a ruling due to the negation of the illah.

The type of qiyas used in relation to Allah the Almighty is qiyas al-awla (analogy of the more appropriate). Qiyas is not permissible in Tawhid (monotheism) if it leads to innovation, atheism, anthropomorphism, or negation of Allah's attributes. Rather, qiyas al-awla is used, indicating that every perfection established for the created being, the Creator is more worthy of it; and every imperfection negated from the created being, the Creator is more worthy of its negation from Him.
