What is Islam's stance on the Sabian religion, which states "There is no god but Allah" and associates no partners with Him, has pillars similar to the pillars of Islam, believes in prophets and angels, and believes that John (Yahya) is the seal of the prophets? Will they enter Paradise or Hell? And why? Is it true that Prophet Muhammad was a Sabian before his prophethood?

The Sabians are of different types, and assuming the authenticity of what has been reported about the beliefs of one of their sects, they are disbelievers who deserve the Fire, like all who disbelieved in the Quran and Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and did not follow him. This is based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "By the One in Whose hand my soul is, any Jew or Christian from this nation who hears of me, then dies without believing in that with which I was sent, will be among the inhabitants of the Fire." The Quran explicitly states the disbelief of anyone who does not believe in it or in the Prophet (peace be upon him), and that such a person is among the people of the Fire. Allah Almighty says: "But whoever disbelieves in it among the [various] factions – then the Fire is his promised abode." And what was mentioned about the Prophet (peace be upon him) being a Sabian before his prophethood is false; the correct view is that he was a Hanif, upon the religion of Abraham.
