How are benefits to be restricted when reading Sharia books?

Restricting the benefits gleaned from reading and writing is essential for achieving the desired outcome, for it has been said: "Knowledge is game, and writing is its leash." Scholars emphasize the importance of writing down benefits immediately upon acquiring them, for fear of forgetting. Rare or novel benefits should be recorded. The imams were keen on this, as did Imam Al-Shafi'i, Al-Bukhari, and Al-Zarkashi.

There are various methods of recording, including: on the margins of pages, on cards, on the book cover, in a notebook, or using a computer. It is recommended to arrange them by topic, while mentioning the source of the benefit, the page number, and the volume.
