Is it permissible to sever ties with a female friend who is characterized by excessive backbiting, complaining, quarreling, and difficulty in reconciliation? And do the concepts of negative energy and energy vampires have any basis in the Quran and Sunnah?

It is permissible to abandon the company of a sinner and one whose association is harmful, if attempts at reform and advice have failed. She should be cautioned about the seriousness of backbiting, which leads to the loss of good deeds. As for treating negative emotions, depression, and stress through what is called "energy healing," it has no basis in Islamic law and must be prohibited. Instead, faith, recitation of the Qur'an, persistent remembrance of Allah (dhikr), and lawful ruqyah (exorcism/healing) are more effective than that.
