What is the ruling on buying a car through AlAhli Bank using the Tawarruq program and reselling it to obtain cash, and what is the alternative Islamic bank to deal with if that is impermissible?
Scholars have differed regarding the ruling on Tawarruq (monetization), and the preponderant opinion is its permissibility due to the absence of a text prohibiting it. The author of "Al-Rawd Al-Murabbi'" stated that if one needs cash and buys something worth a hundred for more in order to expand his wealth with its price, there is no harm in that. This is called "the issue of Tawarruq," and it is the established madhhab (school of thought).
Accordingly, if the transaction is supervised by scholars, and the buyer is not the bank that sold the car, then there is no objection to it. Otherwise, it is not permissible.
As for dealing with a bank that engages in usury (riba), it is impermissible, as it involves aiding in sin, based on Allah's saying: (And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression). One should seek another bank that operates according to Islamic Sharia.
