What is the ruling on men's barbershops?

There is no objection to opening barbershops for men and practicing this profession, provided that forbidden acts are avoided, such as shaving beards, plucking eyebrows, and cutting hair in styles that imitate disbelievers.

Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen, may Allah have mercy on him, was asked about a salon rented to a worker who shaves beards. He replied that it is impermissible to rent out the salon if it will be used to shave the beards of those who request this forbidden act, unless it is stipulated to the worker that he must not shave beards, and this is clearly documented.

He was also asked about renting out shops for barbershops. He replied that it is impermissible to rent them out to them if they shave beards, unless the lessor stipulates that they must not shave beards. Otherwise, the lessor would be assisting in sin and transgression.
