What is the number of prayers that must be made up after repentance from masturbation that continued for years without ghusl (ritual bathing) thereafter? Is there a sin incurred for defiling a place because of that? Is prayer invalidated by movement or sound to ward off thoughts, or by the presence of foul-smelling secretions? Is it necessary to change the bedding if traces of madhy (pre-seminal fluid) are found after istinja (cleaning oneself after urinating or defecating)?

The majority of scholars hold that prayers performed without purity (tahara) must be re-offered, in contrast to Ibn Taymiyyah, who is of the view that there is no obligation to re-offer prayers for someone who unknowingly omitted a pillar or a condition. It is permissible to adopt Ibn Taymiyyah's opinion if re-offering the prayers would cause hardship. You must ignore intrusive thoughts (waswas) and pray normally, and do not pay attention to any sensation until you are certain that something has exited. If you find madhy (pre-seminal fluid) on your clothes, you must wash them. There is no need to wash bedding unless you are certain beyond doubt that it has been affected by madhy.
