What is the ruling on working as a sales representative for a company that sells its products for cash and in installments for a period not exceeding 3 years, where the installment price is the same as the cash purchase price, and it is stipulated that 20% be paid upfront and the item received after all installments have been settled, knowing that the majority of buyers purchase in installments? And what is the ruling on the incentive payments and gifts that I have previously received from the company?

The question includes two rulings:

First: The ruling on commission if it is a percentage of sales price: Scholars differed on its permissibility. The majority prohibits it, but there is a narration from Imam Ahmad permitting it. Based on this narration, there is no objection to it, nor is there any objection to incentives and gifts as long as the work is permissible.

Second: The company's transaction in selling tools:

1. If the transaction involves the buyer viewing the item and purchasing it for a known price, either spot or installment, and then the company holds the sold item as collateral until the price is paid in full, there is no objection to this according to the preponderant opinion. The Islamic Fiqh Academy adopted this view.

2. However, if the transaction involves the buyer entering into a contract with the company for a described item (debt in kind) at a deferred price payable in installments, and the company delivers the item once the price is paid in full, this is not permissible because it is a salam sale. For a salam sale to be valid, the full price must be paid at the contracting session, which is not met here.
