What is the ruling of Islamic law on one who is forced to take out an interest-bearing loan to install an elevator in a building?

Usury is one of the gravest sins and destructive acts, necessitating damnation. Its prohibition is established by the Qur’an, Sunnah, and scholarly consensus. It is impermissible to engage in it or participate in it except in cases of necessity or a compelling need that is considered equivalent to necessity. The installation of an elevator and participation in it does not fall under the category of necessity, except in rare, exceptional circumstances.
