Can you provide us with information about the Prophet John (peace be upon him)?

Al-Shinqiti said in his exegesis of the verses concerning Yahya:

- "Take the Scripture with strength": Meaning, take the Torah with seriousness and diligence, with a correct understanding and acting upon it.

- "And We gave him wisdom while yet a child": Meaning, We granted him understanding of the Scripture and the ability to act upon it in his youth.

- "And affection": Meaning, mercy and tenderness upon which he was naturally inclined.

- "And purity": Meaning, cleanliness from sins and transgressions through obedience.

- "And he was God-fearing": Meaning, he complied with the commands of his Lord and avoided His prohibitions.

- "And dutiful to his parents": Meaning, he was very kind and gentle towards his parents.

- "And he was not a tyrant, disobedient": Meaning, he was not arrogant or disobedient to his Lord and his parents.

- "And peace be upon him the day he was born, and the day he dies, and the day he is resurrected alive": Meaning, safety for him and a salutation from Allah.

- "And a master": Meaning, many people would obey and follow him.

- "And chaste": Meaning, he restrained himself from women as an act of devotion and worship, and this was permissible in his law.

- "And a prophet from the righteous": Meaning, Allah informed him through significant revelation, and he was righteous in belief, action, and speech.
